Comment by Barry Wray on May 12, 2010 at 9:06pm: Perhaps we have enough interest to start some discussions. We are currently integrating cameras into our solar power systems. Not a simple task given power constraints, radio system long range propagation with high potential data bandwidths and long range, low light wide field of view requirements. Now if you try to do this cost competitively another challenge. We are considering and testing systems like Video IQ with localized/ distributed DVR capabilities, so that bandwidth is only necessary when relevant video needs to be transmitted.

Has anyone worked with potential localized DVR systems and the associated cameras that may be worth considering? We are looking to transmit video on a pre and post alarm basis for verification purposes. Our system uses infrared beams to detect intrusions, but verification is a necessary piece of information to ensure efficient use of personnel. We are only looking at a recognition level of video and are not concerned with the identification of subjects.
